M.C.
SKWEE-G was born out of a desire for something new from rap and
hip-hop. Armed with a pen, a briefcase full of rhymes, and a desire to abandon
the cookie cutter rap styles of all top 40 rappers of the 90's and early
2000, M.C. SKWEE-G came forth to lay ruin to that 1980 style A-B cadence
bullshit. Glorifying exploits of Mom doin', and gold snatchin' while mixing
enough wackiness in the batter to satisfy any Def Jux or Kool Keith listener.
M.C. SKWEE-G could give a fuck less about what kind of
car you drive, what kind of watch you have on your wrist, how many square
feet your house is, or how many records you sold. In the end your just another
wack Master P imposter ass bitch. So keep on using the same tired ass rhyme
schemes... Let a real pro show you how the future of hip hop is going to
shape out.
5.07.2006- New
tracks on Music Page!!! Some pretty cool things to report on, and some
not so cool things maybe a mixed blessing as some would call it. First
with the bad. My other project, a band I played drums for called The
Isolation Theory, has decided to call it quits after 2 years of hard
work. Good in that it will free up more time for Emcee SKWEE-G... Ok
so now for the good. I have been In the studio working with the notorious
Johnson Phillips at The Blue Room Studio working on new tracks for the
upcoming album "Whats Inside The Briefcase?" The tentative
names of the new tracks are: Missle Command, Lesson Seven, and The title
track for "What's Inside The Briefcase?" pretty original huh?
What elseis there worth reporting? Well for starters... the gallery
is done! Yep that's right all finished... now I just need some pictures
to put in it. Also I redid the way the Music page is. Now you can listen
to the tracks streaming from a flash player instead of having to download
them. I added some new tracks... A couple classics go check that out
for sure. As for shows, Be sure to contact me to purchase a ticket for
the Coyote show on the 31st of May. They are only $5, and it should
be a really fun show.
3.22.2006- Wow
it has been a while since I have done an update... Ok here is what we
have going on now: Shows out the ass! I have a show at least once a
week all through April. I did a show up at a nice little place called
Boba in Akron a couple of weeks ago, and it was a great time. If you
didn't come out, you missed out... I know it's cliche to say that but
you did, so there. Also in the news is the help I am getting from none
other than 2 Hype J from my other group The Simon Horn Experience. He
has been doing some back-up vocals for me at a number of shows, and
is really doing a great job. Be on the look out for his as of yet unnamed
solo album to be out sometime later this year. We have been digging
into it and and all I can say is that people aren't ready for this shit.
I am in the process of redoing the gallery and have incorporated a slick
little flash ditty in there, so check that out as it should be running
at full capacity soon. Oh... check the shows list or the events box
above to check the show updates too.
2.07.2006- The
show at the E.C.C. was.... well... interesting. With the help of my
Isolation Theory brother Scott Paris, and Apt. 3 Studios brother DJ
KRYSH, I was able to perform for a good deal of people I knew and some
that I did not know. It was overall a good time, although the set was
cut short by ALMOST 20 MINUTES!!!! The sound system left something to
be desired, but I will probably play there again sometime in the future.
If I see that heckling bitch that was in the crowd again I'm going to
punch her in her fat face. Big thank you to anyone that came out to
check me out. It was the first show and wasn't too bad... I still got
some shit to learn though, and they can only get better from here!
1.12.2006- Shows
Update! SKWEE-G will be hitting up the Kent and Cleveland areas in the
near future. First off I have a show in Kent at the E.C.C. on Feb. 6th
with MC Homeless and Nipples, the next scheduled show isat Peabody's
in Cleveland on the 19th of April with MARZ and Injektion XL. No word
yet on ticket costs or door charges, but as soon as I get that info
I'll post it here. Come out to both of these shows and see what all
the hype is about.
1.04.2006-
"New Year, New Shite" The first SKWEE-G show of the year was
a huge success! Thank you to everyone that came out to check out the
show. I am currently working on some pretty cool shit. Not only is an
international compilation track in the works with UK based production
force Eardrums, but I am also working on new SKWEE-G tracks... right
now it's the title track for the forthcoming album "What's Inside
the Briefcase?". Also I am planning a number of shows with electronic/
industrial act STRAINE and The Lo Fidelity Circus. These should be great
shows so get the fuck off your lazy ass and come out to see them . The
first dates will be mid-January so keep a look out for that. If you
are on Myspace, I will be sending out a bulletin announcing the show
dates. A number of people on Myspace have also contacted me and want
to do collaborations, or request acapella versions of songs for remixes.
If you are one of these people please be patient as I am trying to accomodate
all of you.

M.C. SKWEE-G is an underground rap artist trying to bring something new and unique to cleveland rap and ohio hip hop. He is on his own label called ReachAround Records, but in reality he is an unsigned rap artist. Being that SKWEE-G is an underground rap music creator and an unsigned hip hop artist as well, he has plenty of flexibility and freedom to be as vaulgar as he wants, and he often takes advantage of this opportunity. This strays from the conventions of many up and coming artists making underground hip hop. the tendancy these days seems to be on emotional topics and quests for enlightenmant. Many underground hip hop artists wear their hearts on their sleeves, where as SKWEE-G might wear your face over top of his face as a mask.
Being a new rap artist or a new hip hop artist making new rap and hip hop music has it's rewards and it's drawbacks. For one, mass appeal is a hard thing to get. People are so used to hearing the same thing all the time- same rap styles, same sounding beats, same song structure... when you put something new in their face it can be a hard pill to swallow. On the other hand, the people that look specificly for something different love it. Cleveland hip hop is going to be divided. Some of the traditionalists are going to hate it... the more liberal and experimental people in the scene will like it."
Being a rap artist isn't all groupies and money and champagne, it's a lot of hard work, networking and effort. SKWEE-G has just begun to work with some of the local talent. Mainly working with unsigned rappers, and people from underground hip hop music, he has played shows with The Impossibulls, MC Homeless and Nipples, and has shows scheduled with MARZ and Injektion XL. "Shows can be rough. Even when a crowd isn't feeling you, you still have to come out and try to give them a show. This rings true with the ohio rap scene especially. The crowds out here are very cliquey... they come to see their friends then they are like "Ok... time to go!" ... that can be discouraging. I'm sure it's not like this every where... cincinnatti rap... what's your scene like?
If you have checked out any of the photos in the gallery you will see that SKWEE-G is a white rapper. "Being a white rap artist is a funny thing... When you are getting ready to do a show, and you first step on stage, you will get some strange looks sometimes... even from another hip hop artist... usually those looks subside once the rapping actually begins." I think being a white rap artist really doesn't hinder you at all... I mean if someone is going to be prejudiced let them. I probably have better rhymes than them anyway.
I think this is the age of the underground rappers. with myspace and
sites like it networking and getting the word out becomes a lot easier
for unsigned hip hop artists to get a similar hype that a small record
label would provide. People are searching for new rap music... not just
new rap music, new rap music from the rap underground. That's how all
the rap hip hop music used to be ... there was no MTV playing videos,
there were no big label backing for any of these guys. They went out
and did the shit themselves.
